Brother and sister

11 and 16 and so photogenic (not to mention polite and sweet) it was a dream working with them.

Yes, 11 and 16.

A Little Princess

Families….

can be magic when there is love like this:

A little boy

and my favorite age!

A Hand to Hold on to

Baby boy (and big brother)

I love this little guy

How could you not?

A Winter’s Day

Greens fade to the warm brown of dead leaves, the steel grey of the sky, the frost tinged branches of a bare tree. I love winter in all its naked glory.

and of course there’s the warm indoor light:

Happy New Year!

Little Red Head

Poor mom has been waiting forever for these. Our first session got cut short when we got rained on! I hope the wait was worth it!

Letting in the Light

I know I’m a little late in getting these up and I’m sure this little one’s mom thinks I probably didn’t get much and that’s why I haven’t posted. But the problem is that I love too many and couldn’t pick which ones to post!

I love the cool, clear winter light in these. I hope everyone out there who reads my blog and has decided to hold off scheduling a session until spring will reconsider. I love winter light — both indoor and out and I think once you see some of my upcoming sessions you’ll understand why!

The holiday season is here again — the rush to find the Wii, an Iphone, an American Doll no one else has. It’s so very easy to get caught up in things, in the idea that an expensive gift is all that matters to a child.

It’s not. What matters most are the small, daily things we usually ignore — the smell of strawberries on your child’s cheek, the way she gathers leaves in the yard on every crisp fall day, your son’s fascination with all things pirates, all things spacemen and all things bugs. What matters most to them is your time. Time spent just being because these moments are as fleeting and ephemeral as a snowflake on your tongue and in a week, a month, a year she will prefer lipstick over leaves and that sweet smell will be perfume, not strawberries.

With that, I bring you Grace – my Dec/January recipient of my Moments of Grace program: Grace. Even her name was perfect. Grace has cystic fibrosis and stole my heart from the moment we met when she grabbed my hand and led me along in search of adventure. And adventure we had (just ask mom who almost had a heart attack). The Plaza hotel, Central Park, Henri Bendel’s and Rockefeller Center were just some of the places we stopped. By the end of the day I was so exhausted I could barely keep my eyes open but I think it was worth it and I hope you think so too.

Meet Grace:
